Black turtles have been reported in the San Diego Bay since the 1850's.  At the south edge of the bay, the Turtle Bay project is being constructed in Imperial Beach as a pair.  The outer shell protects the interior of the homes while allowing for a space for glimpses out into the water and surroundings.
